This webinar will supplement Dr. Frederic Reamer’s earlier presentation on ethics and risk management issues in online and distance social work. This follow-up webinar will provide participants with in-depth discussion of key ethics challenges related to unique informed consent and confidentiality issues when delivering distance services; new regulatory and practice standards related to social workers' use of technology; relevant federal and state laws; requirements for privacy audits under the federal Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH); social workers’ technology-related competence; clients’ remote access to electronic records (client portals); and unique challenges in integrated care settings associated with social workers' use of electronic records.
