An accurate and comprehensive assessment is crucial in determining the nature and course of helping interventions and achieving goals, which improve the quality of life for elder clients. You will learn to develop a framework for assessing older adult clients with consideration of cultural and age differences. Different types, purposes and applications of assessments given under various auspices will be distinguished. You will become familiar with various data collection instruments and will be able to differentiate between dysfunctional and normal aging. Risk factors that need specialized assessments will be identified. [Required for Basic Gerontology Certificate]
