This webinar will explore Screening for Trauma and Assessment of Trauma in children and adolescents. We will review the use of both formal and informal tools as well as other clinical methodologies. There will be an opportunity to go into break out rooms and practice two standardized tools. We will also review a scenario in order to use the information gathered in screening and assessment to develop a clinical formulation and discuss indications for treatment. About the Instructor

Karen McGrellis, LPC, DAAETS, DRCC, ACS, MPA, is a Senior Training and Consultation Specialist at Rutgers-University Behavioral Health Care, Behavioral Research and Training Institute (BRTI) for the Children’s System of Care (CSOC). She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor and a Diplomate at the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and holds a Master’s in Public Administration. She is one of the first clinicians certified in the United States as a Disaster Response Crisis Counselor and is team Leader for Union County, New Jersey under the Disaster and Terrorism Branch within the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services. She holds a Certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies through The Trauma Center at Justice Resource Institute. She is a certified Psychological First Aid (PFA) trainer with certificates from the International Trauma Center and National Child Traumatic Stress Network. She is a trained Psychological First Aid responder in the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) PFA Model. She has completed train the trainer for Skills for Psychological Recovery (SPR) trainer and pending certification from the National Child Traumatic Stress Network.
