Disability Employment Professionals:

Do You Want to Build Your Own Career?

The Rutgers School of Social Work is facilitating a training program in the fall of 2012 designed specifically for job developers and employment specialists working in the field of disability employment. If you would like to develop new skills and learn about best practices and current trends in job development then consider applying for this free certificate program. Attending all six in-class sessions will lead to the Professional Skills in Job Development Certificate.

The personalized approach of the certificate program is designed to increase your professional skills and expose you to ways to empower your clients to secure high quality placements. The series will cover current labor market trends, ethical practice, using technology, innovative use of assistive technologies, and ways to empower your clients to develop their own employment options.

Funded through DiscoverAbility NJ, this program provides a full scholarship for those accepted into the program. Attendees will be selected through a competitive application process. There are 30 slots available.

  3. Ethical Issues and Practice in Disability Employment
  4. Asset-Based Case Management and Career Coaching
  5. Understanding and Facilitating the Use of Assistive Technology
  6. Facilitating the Job Search Process Using Skill-Building & Technology

  • There is no fee for this program. Participants must agree to complete all sessions & assignments.
  • Enrollment is limited. Candidates will be selected based on the strength of their application.
  • Approved for 30 continuing education hours for social workers and counselors, CRC approval pending.
