Parents and School Success

This workshop will provide social workers with basic information and skills needed for enabling parents to help their children succeed in school. Studies have shown that healthy involvement of parents in their childrens education is a critical ingredient in academic success. The workshop will be divided into three parts: Preparing children to succeed in school, Encouraging positive classroom and home behaviors & Parent as Coach to reinforce academic skill growth and success. Through lecture, activities and video presentations, participants will gain skills and insights into the School-Smart Home; healthy, productive discipline techniques and academic reinforcement skills that have been proven to enrich and support academic success. Parent-teacher relationships will also be explored for the best possible problem-solving outcomes for children.
