Interventions for Parents with Personality Disorders

Topics covered include: the definitions of personality traits and the common features of personality disorders; recognition of dependent, borderline and narcissistic personality features; other co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse problems; the impact that parental personality disorders may have on child development and family functioning; the obstacles posed to effective family and child centered interventions; and effective short term strategies to engage and defuse problematic character traits and behavior. The webinar will combine didactic presentation and group discussion. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring relevant case material for discussion and consultation.
