Impact of Early Adverse Childhood Experiences - Implications for Adoption-WEB

This webinar will discuss the consequences of suboptimal care, deprivation and trauma on childhood development and the interface of biological and social influences. Included in the discussion will be the role of early influences (prenatal and postnatal) on brain development and early developmental outcomes, as well as the impact of prolonged suboptimal care for the older child. An overview on how to access appropriate evaluations and services will be included. Case studies of children in U.S. foster care and adopted from orphanages abroad will be presented. This webinar focuses on identification and evaluation of "at risk" children and referral to appropriate intervention resources. This webinar does not specifically discuss therapeutic modalities.
