Essential Attributes of Leadership

In today's changing and dynamic human services environment, there is a need for strong leaders. In this workshop human services managers in the nonprofit and public arena will learn what it takes to be an effective leader. Definitions and theories of leadership will be discussed and leadership styles will be explored. The roles and functions of a leader will be addressed as well as the values and ethics of leadership. The competencies of leadership - knowledge, skills and abilities- as well as emotional intelligence will be discussed. Participants will apply theories and concepts to case scenarios supplied by the workshop moderator and engage in role-plays designed to build and enhance leadership competencies. This workshop does not qualify for NBCC (National Board for Certified Counselors) clock hours.
